Describing Patterns in Flow-Like Images
نویسندگان
چکیده
We are interested in the development of an efficient computational visual system to study dynamic fluids. So, in this paper, we present a methodology to detect patterns in flow-like images. These patterns are called, in the Dynamical Systems theory, critical points or single points. This method involves four steps: estimation of flow directions; matching; critical point confirmation, and critical points description according to the Dynamical Systems theory. At the second step, to achieve the critical point class, node, saddle or center point, we use templates to match the patterns. The last step of the method is necessary only if we wish a numerical representation of the patterns. We ran the method over several real images of some fluid flow classes and present the results.

Landscape ecology as a modern interdisciplinary science offers new concepts, theories, and methods for land evaluation and management. One main part of landscape ecology is describing patterns in the landscape and interpreting the ecological effects of these patterns on flora, fauna, flow of energy and materials. Landscape studies require methods to identify and quantify spatial patterns of lan...

Online social networks like Instagram are places for communication. Also, these media produce rich metadata which are useful for further analysis in many fields including health and cognitive science. Many researchers are using these metadata like hashtags, images, etc. to detect patterns of user activities. However, there are several serious ambiguities like how much reliable are these informa...
متن کاملScale and Rotation Invariant Detection of Singular Patterns in Vector Flow Fields
We present a method for detecting and describing features in vector flow fields. Our method models flow fields locally using a linear combination of complex monomials. These monomials form an orthogonal basis for analytic flows with respect to a correlation-based innerproduct. We investigate the invariance properties of the coefficients of the approximation polynomials under both rotation and s...
متن کاملInfluence of intake’s angel and location on sediment rate in bend of river using CCHE2D software
Investigating the features and flow behavior and related component is one of the complex phenomena that make using of software inevitable. The rivers carry sediment content along with water which is created by erosion of riverbed sediment and erosion caused by rainfall or surface runoff flowing over the catchment area. If the action of river dewatering occurs, the entry of sediment into the int...
متن کاملPatterns of Flow –like Images Revealed by Digital Image Processing
Automatic Systems to fluid flow visualization can help in solution of several Fluid Dynamic Phenomena. Usually, these systems can be concerned of three fundamental steps: data acquisition, processing and result display. There are several ways to achieve the first step, which can be grouped as follows: simulation of mathematics elements, and detection/description of fluid flow patterns character...
